Our free hotline provides legal information, advice, and referrals for civil legal issues for anyone who calls.

LCJC is a Legal Hotline which provides legal advice, information, answers, and forms for civil law issues. You can fill out an intake form online or you can call our toll free number: (800) 310-7029 open Monday through Friday 9am–12pm.

The civil law issues we cover include:

  • Family Law – Divorce, Custody, Community Property, and Domestic Violence
  • Employment – Termination, Wage Claims, Workers’ Compensation, and Civil Rights
  • Housing – Landlord-tenant disputes, Evictions, Discrimination, Public Housing, and Foreclosure
  • Successions – Wills, Power of Attorney, Living Wills, and Successions
  • Consumer Law – Debt Collection, Bankruptcy, and Foreclosure
  • Elder Law – Curator, Advanced Directives, and Grandparent Rights
  • Disaster Related Issues – Road Home, FEMA, Contractor Disputes, Insurance, and BP Oil Spill
  • Public Benefits – Social Security, Medicaid, and SSI

You will be asked to provide your name and contact information before describing your legal problem. Depending on your legal problem, your social security number and detailed information about your income may be required. This process may take up to 20 minutes. Please note that if you are interested in receiving help with a foreclosure issues , you will be required to complete a telephone interview taking up to 45 minutes.
