Jefferson Parish Domestic Violence Program

The Louisiana Civil Justice Center (LCJC) is proud to announce a new initiative to provide victims of domestic violence the best possible services in Jefferson Parish. The LCJC has partnered with the Jefferson Parish District Courthouse, Metropolitan Center for Women and Children and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services  to expand the services offered at LCJC’s 24th Judicial District Court help desk. Now, in addition to LCJC attorneys to help pro bono litigants, the help desk will also have a Southeast Louisiana Legal Services attorney and Metropolitan social workers on hand to help persons affected by domestic violence file protective orders, obtain safety planning and other social services, and get representation for protective order hearings. The LCJC is proud to be a part of helping Jefferson Parish citizens overcome domestic violence.

Bike Law

‎LCJC‬ volunteers had a wonderful time this November partnering with ‪Bike Easy‬ for alternative transportation legal rights in ‪New Orleans‬. LCJC notarized Affidavits of Ownership at a Sunday clinic as well as helped people register their bikes with ‪‎NOPD‬. No better way to spend a beautiful Sunday morning!

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Today the Gambits 40 under 40 issue came out that recognizes New Orleanians who are making the Crescent City a better place to live and work. The Gambit solicits nominations from the public and then honors 40 people under the age of 40 for their innovative contribution to our society. LCJC is proud to announce that its Executive Director Jonathan Rhodes is one of the 40 being celebrated for his work in our community as a director, lawyer and advocate promoting social justice in our city and state. LCJC is honored to have such a dedicated justice leader on its team and is excited for the many great things to come.
